Norton Reports WS.Reputation.1 warning

Postby dmil1214 » Wed Sep 25, 2013 11:00 am

I purchased this software today and when I downloaded, Norton Anti-Virus removed the software due to a virus attachment.
What do I do now???? I cannot download this software and have paid $29.95 for it.

Hi Debbie,

Another customer just recently wrote us about the same Norton problem (I’m assuming you have the “WS.Reputation.1” warning). I double checked our software with MacAfee and Kaspersky anti-virus software, and both reporting no viruses. The Norton software is reporting a false positive.

Here is some more information on “WS.Reputation.1”, which indicates that a file has a low reputation, but is not a virus:

I have since submitted a “False Positive” report to Norton using the link below:

https://submit.symantec.com/false_positive/

Hopefully you can submit the same report, or maybe submit a report directly from your Norton software.

1. What version of Norton are you using?
2. Are you using the latest database updates for Norton?

Yes, I agree that it is a false positive. I did quite a bit of research on it and took the file out of quarantine and was able to use it. I will contact Norton also. Thank you for your quick response.
