C++ Runtime Error with LightScribe System Software

Postby mcontour » Wed Dec 03, 2014 8:33 am

Hello,

After creating my label I try to print it. The lightscribe print software pops up and after a few more minutes the following error pops up. After that, my computer is pretty much locked up and I have to force it off with the power switch.

Some details if it helps:
HP Elitebook Folio 1040 with windows 7 enterprise 64-bit
External Pioneer USB Lightscribe drive
Lightscribe system software version 1.18.27.10

Any tips for me?

Thanks.

Michael

Hi Michael,

I’ll try my best to help. First, this error is created by the LightScribe System Software, and is separate from AudioLabel.

I did a Google search for ' LightScribe “runtime error” ' and came up with a bunch of results. It seems that this problem been around since at least 2007, and there is no one solution that works for everyone.

Please make sure the drivers for your External Pioneer USB LightScribe drive are up to date.

Here's a link from a person who fixed the problem by replacing the LightScribe Drive itself (not the best solution, but it worked). This kind of suggests that problem lies with the hardware drivers:

Another person on the forum suggested the problem can be fixed simply by waiting for the LightScribe media to be fully detected before clicking the LightScribe “Print” button.

It’s also possible that problem could be fixed by installing an older version of the LightScribe System Software version 1.18.24.1 (First uninstall version 1.18.24.10).

And finally, reinstalling the Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Libraries might fix the problem; although, this is probably a long shot.

Please note: These are just ideas, and are not guaranteed to work at all ( I don’t want to send anyone on a wild goose chase).

However, if you do fix the problem please post back to the forum so others can be helped out.
